Parents’ Night Off That Don’t Break The Bank

Parents’ Night Off That Don’t Break The Bank

I don’t know about you, but nights off are few and far between. Even if Mr H and I agree he’ll get up with the kids in the morning, I’m still the one to rise through the night if one of them wakes, as he sleeps like a log. So when either one of us of both get the opportunity to take some time off, it is massively appreciated and jumped at. Sometimes, though, it can be hard to decide what to do with this spare time – is it worth going out and having a load to drink, only to be be hungover whilst your toddler jumps on you at 6am? Not to mention the £100’s it can cost between food, drinks, taxi’s and accommodation.

So I thought I’d put together some ideas of what you can do when you get that rare moment to yourselves to make the best out of it without feeling it in your head and your pocket.

Go To The Cinema
Whilst nowadays (yes, saying that does make me feel old), the cinemas can be a costly affair, if you are savvy you can keep the costs down and still enjoy snuggling up together in the back row like in the good old days. Places like Tesco’s now have vouchers where you can use your points to purchase tickets, meaning the only cost you have to fork out is for food and drink.

Enjoy A Meal Out
If you keep an eye out, lots of restaurant chains offer buy-one-get-one-free money off vouchers – My Voucher Codes is a great place to look to find offers, as it Open Table and who have an ‘eat out for a tenner’ search tool.

Try Your Hand At Bingo
A lot of people may turn their nose up at what is often seen as an older person’s past time, but it is surprising how many of the younger generation are enjoying a flutter on the bingo. Many bingo halls now have modern areas where people can play over a table whilst enjoying a drink and chat, rather than the more serious way of playing of the past. Not to mention electronic playing replacing the older dabbers, bingo can be surprisingly more fun than you would expect and you may win money to boot. If you decide you’d rather do it in your slippers and dressing gown, you can even try online gaming from the comfort of your sofa like

Visit A Comedy Club
I absolutely love a night at a comedy club and yet for some reason hardly ever go. Places like Jongleurs and The Comedy Store offer fantastic entertainment from some of the bigger acts, but there are lots of places such as your local pub that run comedy nights for a fraction of the price. You can enjoy laughing until your sides ache for a small fee, leaving you more money for drinks.

Games Night In
If you either can’t be bothered to go out or your money just doesn’t stretch, why not just enjoy a night in together with your favourite games? Mr H and I have recently been having a laugh revisiting our favourite board games, such as Monopoly and Scrabble, as well as playing cards together. It is such a simple thing to do, and yet can be so much fun and help strengthen your relationship by spending quality time together.

So there you have it, a few ideas to help you enjoy some quality time together without breaking the bank. What are your favourite date nights?
