Myself and Mr H are huge film lovers – Mr H more so than me, despite the fact I have a degree in film studies! He almost constantly has a film on wherever he is in the house and can literally quote films and name actors after watching a film once – he’s always the winner of the Kevin Bacon game!

Fresh faced at university!

This Bank Holiday we took some time together as a family and had some lovely days out together, swimming and going to the beach. However when the children were finally down for bed it was time for myself and Mr H to spend some much-needed time together. And what better way to do this than with a film!

Thanks to the new Sky Buy & Keep facility we didn’t even have to leave the comfort of our home to enjoy the latest releases – we simply went into our Sky menu, head to the Sky Store, chose our film to download and we were ready for our night together! We will even receive a DVD copy of the film in the post, so we can take it anywhere with us.

Upon reading further into the website, I also thought it was great that even if you’re not a Sky TV customer, you can still download films onto your computer or via NowTV or YouView. I think it’s great that Sky are embracing other forms of downloading for people who are looking for films but aren’t necessarily on Sky themselves.

The longest part of this, however, was choosing the film! Mr H’s top films would include Lord of the Rings, Tommy Boy and Shoot ‘Em Up!

Mine are How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Back To The Future and Singin’ In The Rain (who doesn’t love a bit of Gene Kelly!).

A slight difference!

Mr H loves his stupid comedies and Anchorman 2 would have definitely been his choice, however I really hate that type of comedy so What To Expect When You Are Expecting would have been more my thing! In the end, though, we settled for a mid-ground of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. A little bit of teen angst for me and the sci-fi action the hubby enjoys. Perfect!

Along with some popcorn, chocolate and of course a glass of wine, we snuggled up together and enjoyed a couple of hours of peace and escapism. Now to link Kevin Bacon to Jennifer Lawrence – how quick can you do it?!
